Remember, You Are The Expert On You When Hiring A Professional Organizer

We at Release Repurpose Reorganize are organizing experts. We started this jointly owned organizing business in 2020, we also own our individual organizing businesses and have been working as professional organizers since 2005. Even before that Jonda and I were organizing things here and there. While we are organizing experts, we are not the expert when it comes to knowing you, our clients. You are the expert in the subject of you. We firmly believe that the best way to create personalized organizing systems for you is to work with your strengths and preferences. Most professional organizers feel the same way.

Because every person is unique, we, as professional organizers, have tried a wide variety of solutions. You can help us as we work to create the best solution for you by answering the following questions.

What are your strengths?

Take the time to identify your strengths. This is not the time to be humble. Get out a piece of paper and a pen and make a list of things you do well. What is the common connector? What makes these things easy for you?

Chances are the things you do well are also things you like to do. At the very least, they are things you do not avoid doing. Shout them out. Tell us what they are. This helps us create solutions to help you tackle the things you don’t like to do by working with your strengths.

What are your preferences?

Do you like to see things to know that you have an errand to do, papers to file, bills to pay? If you can’t see something, is it gone? Maybe this is you. If so, chances are an organizing system that keeps things orderly, out, and in plain view will work best for you.

Does seeing lots of things out and about make you cringe, chances are you like to have things put away.

Perhaps you worry about putting things away in the ‘right’ homes. Maybe this is why you have stuff lingering about on tabletops, counters, and piled on the floor.

Since we are organizing experts, we have a multitude of solutions to try. We won’t know what will work for you until we try however you (since you are the expert on you) can tell us which of the options we present to you sounds good or makes you feel encouraged.

How do you like to receive information?

Some people find it easier to understand how to do something by listening. Others like to read and learn best by following written instructions. And then there are those who like to learn while doing.

Since you are the expert on you, tell us the best way to share our solutions with you. We are happy to leave you a voice mail with reminders, write out the steps to follow, or have you work along side us until you get the hang of the new system.

What gives you the most trouble?

Stop and think about what always gets in your way. You are the expert here. Pause and work your way backwards through your day. It may have started out just fine and then something interrupted you. Identify that something.

What is it that prevents you from following through with things you say you want to do?

Do you get distracted by the next idea?  Maybe the solution is to break a project down into very small steps so that you can complete a step before acting on the new idea.

Is technology the bad guy here? Think about silencing the notifications. There are apps which you can set to prevent you from accessing things like social media during times you have set to work. Check out this blog post for help silencing notifications on your phone.
